Menopause is inevitable and every woman has a different experience but there are some common symptoms when we are in the height of menopause.
Weight gain, mood swings, insomnia, hot flashes that have you feeling that you are literally on fire, brain fog and hair loss.  What a daunting list, right.
I used to think that menopause is what happens when you are older but we actually begin menopause in our late 20’s and symptoms begin showing up closer to the age of 40. This is why educating yourself is so important. A serious issue could be brewing that is easily preventable or reversed with BHRT (bio-identical hormone replacement therapy). The key is to educate yourself and listen to your body. Symptoms are actually your body talking to you. It would serve you well to learn the language. For me,it took a diagnosis of breast cancer to get my attention. Hopefully this information will help you and you can avoid such a diagnosis. I am not a medical professional, but these are symptoms and tips that I learned through my own experiences.
 
Hair loss- this could actually be a sign of low thyroid also referred to as hypothyroid. Stress can also cause hair loss but stress is also linked to thyroid issues. Inflammation is another major cause of hair loss. Inflammation and low thyroid go hand in hand. They both MUST be addressed.
 
Insomnia- this is likely an adrenal issue. Adrenal fatigue is very common but should not be ignored. Also adrenal issues are secondary to thyroid. As you can see your thyroid health is VERY important! Try and be in bed to read and relax before sleep and asleep by 10:00 pm.  I like to stop all screen time by 8 pm. Cool the temperature in your room and make sure it is pitch dark. This is actually necessary for your brain to release serotonin properly.  
 
Weight GainIsn’t menopause fun, said no one ever!!!! Weight gain comes from a slowed metabolism and estrogen dominance.I gained 25 pounds in 6 months and had no idea what hit me. I felt like the dough boy!
 It is super important to get your hormone levels checked regularly by a functional medicine doc. One thing that causes estrogen dominance is progesterone deficiency. Also environmental toxins. I cannot stress how important it is to rid your home of toxins by switching to plant based chemical free products. 
We are under an all-out assault with toxic overload and our bodies simply can no longer handle the burden. Look at the rise in disease especially in children. Did you know that toxins are passed from the mother and chemicals have been found in the cord blood of new born babies? 

Dropping all sugar from your diet and increase dark fruits and vegetables that have low glycemic index would be very helpful as well.

Mood swings, hot flashes and brain fog are all symptoms of estrogen dominance progesterone deficiency and hormone imbalance. 
Here is what one of the DR’s that I saw said. He helped me so much!

Top 3 causes are: low thyroid levels,inadequate production of hydrochloric acid and a diet that raises blood sugar. Have your Hemoglobin A1C,TSH and MCV checked. TSH above 1.0 indicates low thyroid levels. MCV above 86 indicates inadequate production of hydrochloric acid. A hemoglobin A1C above 5.2 means elevated blood sugar”  DR Roby Mitchell 
 
I personally have found incredible results with all of the symptoms above with the use of essential oils and supplements as well as diet changes. A very helpful book is “Ageless” by Suzanne Somers.
